Style Suggestions
  1. There aren't many words in Shadowrun that have a capital letter in the middle of them. Correct word usage includes:
    Cyberdeck
    Cyberpirates
    Megacorps, Megacorporations
    Shadowrun, Shadowrunners, Shadowrunning
    Gamemaster
    Lone Star
  2. Don't use underlining to add emphasis to text. Instead, use the following:
Use Italics when a block of text is being written as an example.
Use Bold when writing the name of the book, or to add emphasis to a word or set of words.
  3. Shadowcomments should be in the following format:
    > Shadowcomment text goes here.
    > Posters name here
         "Signature file if necessary"
    For example:
    > Greedy gangs get busted this way. A new member joins, then within few months gets a "new job" at a hardware manufacturer. All the members think "Great!" and arrange for him to mail out a bunch of hardware to them. Bingo, said "supplier" now has the addresses of any of the gang members too careless to get a PO Box and have the gear sent there. Pity that said supplier is a member of GridSec.
    > Dbuehrer@ex.gridsec.org
         "With time comes change"
  4. Page references to other Shadowrun books should be in the following format:
    "p. 142, Shadowrun Third Edition"
When referring to the same book later on in the article, it's often best to use the abbreviation for the sourcebook. For example:
    "p. 186, SR3".
    Common sourcebook abbreviations include:
    SR3: Shadowrun Third Edition
    MITS: Magic in the Shadows
    M&M: Man and Machine
    CC: Cannon Companion
    R3: Rigger 3
SR3COMP: Shadowrun Companion: Revised for Third Edition

    NS: New Seattle
    CD: Corporate Download
Authoring Suggestions
  1. Avoid referring to yourself in the article. A little bit of self-referral may be appropriate in the introduction to an article (For example, explaining the motivation behind writing an adventure, or in an article that discusses a specific gaming technique/style), however that should be the extent of things. Rules and source material should not mention you or your playing group, except in the most tangental of ways.

    Here's a bad example:
"So, to use the new Custom Cyberware Rules, I roll 4 dice to determine if my cyberware is available in regular cyberclinics or Beta cyberlinics."
    Here's a better example:
"To determine if the cyberware will be available in regular cyberclinics or only in Beta cyberclinics, roll 4 dice."
  2. Be diligent in referring correctly to Players and Characters. Players are the people sitting around the gaming table and rolling the dice, while Characters are the guys scaling fences and casting spells at security guards. Avoid using phrases like "You fire the gun.", instead wording things like "In order for a character to fire a gun."
  3. Please avoid incorrectly mixing In Character and Out of Character material. Rules material should not have shadowcomments or any other In Character references, except in examples. In Character or source material should not directly refer to rules.
